Rams to host British games each of next three years

01/20/2012 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The St. Louis Rams will host regular-season games in Britain each of the next three years, starting in October against the New England Patriots.
Last October, when the NFL announced a commitment to play in the United Kingdom each of the next five years, teams were permitted to volunteer to play at least one regular-season game per year as a home team. The Rams' proposal to play three straight years was accepted.
"We are excited about the opportunity to reach new audiences globally," said Rams owner Stan Kroenke in a statement through the NFL. "This is a great platform to showcase the city of St. Louis to London and the UK."
Kroenke is a majority shareholder in the English soccer team Arsenal.
"We've seen first-hand the increased popularity of the NFL, not only in London but throughout Europe," Kroenke continued. "To play a role in that growth over the next three years will be incredible and is a testament to the many good things happening not only in the NFL, but also in the St. Louis Rams' organization."
The Rams and Patriots will meet October 28 at Wembley Stadium in London. It will be the sixth straight year the NFL will play a regular-season game in the British capital.
"The response to NFL games in the UK among our British fans has been exceptional," said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in the league's statement. "We are confident that having the Rams host one game in the UK in each of the next three seasons will allow us to better serve the growing popularity of our sport beyond the borders of the United States."
The Patriots also played in the 2009 edition, beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 35-7.
"We are honored to be selected for this year's game and eager to return," said Patriots owner Robert Kraft. "We had such a great experience during our last visit to London. We are proud to have great support from our fans when we are on the road. The United Kingdom is home to some of our most passionate Patriots fans, including the UKPatriots, who are among our most active fan clubs overall, not just overseas. We look forward to another memorable experience."
The NFL has also been considering playing more than one regular-season game per year in Britain, but will only stage one contest in 2012.

Owens did not speak with reporters Wednesday, but said Sunday he'd be out two to four weeks. A return against the Titans would be 13 days after the surgery. The Cowboys were listed as an early -7 1/2 favorite vs. the Tennessee Titans for Week 4 at MySportsbook.com
